2015 Tri-County League Basketball Varsity Letter
Colin Peters, Wheelchair Sports member and captain of the Wheelchair Sports hockey team, the Wichita Plunder, received his varsity letter and lettermans jacket for basketball during a ceremony at his school, Levy Special Education Center.
Colin is the captain of the basketball team at Levy, which participates in the Tri-County League.
Thanks to Scott Martin of Play it Again Sports, a scholarship was created in honor of the basketball coach at Levy, Bill Billingsley for all of the special education students at Levy to be able to earn letterman jackets for the varsity letters they earn playing sports at the high-school level.
The Wichita school board voted unanimously to accept new guidelines proposed by the Tri-County league, which has teams from 11 area high schools for students with special needs. The handbook includes criteria for earning an athletic letter.
Students who wish to be considered for a letter must participate on a Tri-County team for at least two seasons, attend at least 70 percent of practices and games, demonstrate good sportsmanship, give consistent effort, exhibit respect and finish the season in good academic standing.
Colin is proud to be able to earn a varsity letter for all of the hard work and dedication he put into playing basketball at Levy.
